Saint Dominic's Home
Administration Building
Blauvelt, New York

In November 1878, Sister Mary Ann Sammon and a few Dominican Sisters transported nine little girls under their care, to a residence far north of the city in Blauvelt, Rockland County. They had been living in the poverty and overcrowded conditions of New York City.

More than one hundred and twenty five years after these first children arrived at the Home, the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt, NY, continue Mother Mary Ann's legacy by bringing their talents, strengths and compassion to the service of thousands of children in need... teaching them, sheltering them and nurturing them.

Today, Mother Mary Sammon's legacy of dedication to the care of children continues through the partnership of more than 800 dedicated staff members. Saint Dominic's hosts more than 40 programs including foster boarding homes, adoption, adolescent residential programs,

The religious beliefs of children in placement are safeguarded by the enrollment in religious education programs and by the attendance of religious services of each child's particular religious persuasion. Saint Dominic's home believes that all children have a right to parental care. In cases where the biological parents are unable to assume the general and psychological care of the child, we are strongly supportive of secondary parenting through well-planned adoption.
