Saint Dominic’s Home Dedicates
David T. Meberg Family Service Center in the Bronx

Saint Dominic’s Home Executive Director Judith D. Kydon recently welcomed more than 100 guests and staff to the official dedication of the David T. Meberg Family Service Center at 853 Longwood Avenue in the Bronx. The 5,500 sq. ft. center houses 100 employees of Family Foster Care and Therapeutic Foster Care operated by Saint Dominic’s Home and serves more than 873 children and families in the Bronx.

The center was named in honor of David T. Meberg of Huntington, N.Y., forhis commitment to raising funds for the nonprofit Friends of Saint Dominic’s. Mr. Meberg is principal, president and CEO of New York City-based Consolidated Carpet, a third generation family business established in 1943.

Mr. Meberg’s wife Roseanne and their three children stood proudly byhis side as the facility was officially named the David T. Meberg Family Service Center. Colleagues, family members and friends of Mr. Meberg joined with Saint Dominic’s Home staff and Family Foster Care clients to celebrate the occasion with a reception.

Allen Feltman, Director of Family Foster Care at Saint Dominic’s Home, provided an overview of the agency’s Family Foster Care services. The overall aim of the Family Foster Care Department is to help promote family reunification with verification the home is safe and nurturing for the child.

Foster parent Mrs. C read aloud the agency’s mission statement and praised Saint Dominic’s Home staff for their wonderful help.

“Thank you to the staff of Saint Dominic’s Home who has worked with me over the years. I am so grateful for the time and patience everyone took to help me so I could understand and help my foster kids much better. There is nothing better than team work,” said Mrs. C.

Foster child Dorca told the crowd of the care and support she receives from her foster family and case workers at Saint Dominic’s Home and her special relationship with her foster mother.

“I have a deep relationship with my foster mom. We talk a lot and have this bond. We connect. I would like to thank the Saint Dominic’s Home staff for always being there for me to achieve my goals and have hope and the dedication for telling me to keep on going no matter what.”

Sr. Joseph Mary Mahoney, President of Friends of Saint Dominic’s, thanked Mr. Meberg for his tireless commitment to raising funds and was delighted the office space was named in his honor. Sr. Joan Clark led the blessing of the offices and Sr. Margaret Flood, President of the Board of Directors of Saint Dominic’s Home, presided over the naming ceremony.

Mr. Meberg has a 13-year relationship with the Friends of Saint Dominic’s. He has held chair positions on various fund-raising events, including the Annual Business & Labor Awards Dinner and Annual Golf Tourney.
