In 2002, Saint Dominic's Home was among the Top 5 Child Welfare agencies in the City of New York.

As we marked our 125th anniversary, we are proud of the achievements of the caring, dedicated individuals who are committed to the mission of Saint Dominic's Home.

During this landmark year, we made a commitment to improving our Information Systems and our ability to meet the increased reporting requirements that we face.

Saint Dominic's School received a favorable report from the New York State Department of Education.

The Universal Pre-Kindergarten and TORCH Programs are working towards accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

The Foster Boarding Home Program received the highest possible scores in permanency outcomes. The number of finalized adoptions increased for the third straight year; forty adoptions were finalized.

The Therapeutic Foster Boarding Home continues to operate at full capacity. The department undertook more thorough and extensive training of resource parents, both kinship and other. Despite funding cuts, SDH remains among the highest performing and most respected child welfare agencies in the City of New York.

In November, 2002, a new Supervised Independent Living Program opened in Rockland County for young women who are aging out of foster care. These women receive support to help them through the transition from foster care to independent living.

Substance Abuse services were expanded to include screening and assessment of all adolescents. Substance Abuse Prevention services are provided to all adolescents in group homes.

A grant from the Hackett Foundation enabled the Health Services department to replace outdated dental equipment. The department is seeking funding to expand the DOC (Diabetes, Obesity and Cholesterol) Program to address these chronic problems that affect clients, their families and our staff.

Administration of Children's Services (in New York City) rated Saint Dominic's "Outstanding" -- a great accomplishment by the Accountability Department.
